Change at the top for New World
Asa McGillian has been appointed managing director of Northern Ireland's largest and the UK's most ambitious composite door and panel manufacturer, New World. The enterprising and charismatic founder Austin McGillian, who is taking on the role of chairman, is stepping down from the day-to-day responsibilities and handing over the baton to the next generation.
Asa has been in training for this role since1996 when, as a teenager, he had a short spell on the factory floor in the new door panel business set up the previous year. He graduated from Belfast Institute with an HND in Business Studies and began working life proper for the family firm as a sales rep in the south of Ireland. Subsequently he has carried out several roles, latterly as operations manager.
But it was his leadership of the production team which launched the best selling composite doorset Apeer in 2004, that he is most proud. “My main goal and five year plan is to make New World the best and largest doorset manufacturer in the UK and Ireland. With a combination of impeccable quality, desirable products at a competitive price, delivered on a short lead-time and matchless service to our customers, we will succeed.”
New World is shortly to launch Door Builder, a completely innovative online, paperless ordering system that, by showing homeowners how to build their perfect doorset on-screen, with a price, will allow fabricators to secure a sale at the first encounter.
